MAITAI Sharing Island Warmth

Helpful information

Getting to Bora Bora

Inter-island flights are easy to arrange and seats can be booked easily. It takes about 45 minutes flying time to get to Bora Bora on Air Tahiti. The Bora Bora airport is located on Motu Mute, a small islet to the north of Bora Bora.

Your luggage should be collected after landing and then loaded on luggage carts leaving on the Air Tahiti Bora Bora Navette, a shuttle boat that takes you with your luggage to the main island. It takes 20 minutes by boat and then it's time to relax and start your vacation in Bora Bora.

Ground transfer

The minibus bound for the Maitai Polynesia Bora Bora will be waiting for you upon your arrival. It takes about 15 minutes from the pier of Vaitape (main village of Bora Bora) to get to your French Polynesia hotel accommodation.

Please notify the hotel of your domestic flight and book in advance this transfer.

Relax on Bora Bora

Bora Bora is a very pleasant island on which to relax. The islanders are always smiling and very friendly. The climate is tropical, but with the refreshing sea breeze, the heat is never unbearable.

Weather

The sun shines all year with only a few days of rain to disrupt the sunshine. The warmest time to visit is between November and March (about 30°C/85°F), with the other months of the year being cooler and drier.

What to Wear

Wearing casual attire is recommended on the island. Light cotton outfits suffice throughout the year. A sweater or light jacket may be worn in the evening, especially when the wind picks up. A light rain jacket may also be useful in case of showers.

Facilities on the Island

You will find in the village of Vaitape a post office and an ATM. The currency of French Polynesia is the Pacific Franc.

Currency

Maitai Hotel Bora Bora has a currency exchange for converting Euros, US$, Yen, AUS$ and NZ$. Most credit cards are accepted including Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Please note: our online booking system does not accept JCB cards.

Tips are not necessary in French Polynesia. Residents will enjoy just as much a smile and respectful behavior towards them as a token of your appreciation and to encourage them to preserve their tradition of hospitality. However a gratuity is always welcome.

Pets are not allowed
